At The King's School we believe that students should be well prepared and well informed in making excellent decisions about their next steps.
We aim to challenge stereotypes, remove barriers and encourage students to consider the full range of careers available both locally and at a national level.
Below is a summary of the careers programme which can be accessed by students, teachers, parents and employers. You will also find the provider access policy here along with dates for the next review. We welcome contact from employers who may be able to provide meaningful encounters and support our students by enhancing the well established careers programme. We work closely with the local authority to ensure all of our students are successful in securing appropriate next steps, and as a result have some of the best progression data both locally and nationally. We also collaborate with enterprise advisors from the Leeds City region to share good practice and regularly use the Compass careers analysis tool to further improve the impact of our provision.
Careers Plan & Intent
Careerometer
Careerometer can be used to explore and compare key information about occupations, help you learn about different occupations and identify potential careers.
It provides access to a selection of UK headline data relating to pay, weekly hours of work and future employment prospects for different occupations, as well as description of the occupation.
Simply type in the title of the job you are interested in and the widget provides a series of options from which you can select the most relevant to you. You can then look up another two occupations and compare. You can also select ‘display the UK average’ and compare the information with the occupation you have selected.

There are 350 careers in the NHS. Use this website to watch videos, read case studies and learn more about the largest UK employer, with over 1.3 million employees.
Visit this site to see short videos of lots of people talking about their career, what brought them into it and what their job is really like.
This is a really user-friendly site. The ‘Buzz’ test is especially fun to do and may assist you in career planning or help you to think in a different direction. It also has great video clips and other careers tools.
The National Careers Service website provides careers advice and information on a wide range of jobs, training courses, resources and funding. It also has a CV builder and profiles on almost 800 different types of jobs.
Provides a single point of contact for information on 12 Higher Education Provider Partners, to help with access and preparation for studying.
Barclays' Wheel of Strengths tool allows you to discover which jobs could suit you by picking your current skills, interests and personality traits. Uncover roles that you might not have thought of before and find out how LifeSkills can help you develop your skills further.
Work Experience
We provide all students with an exceptional opportunity to experience the world of work in the Summer term of Year 10.

Apprenticeship Offers
An apprenticeship is a mixture of being employed to do a real job whilst also studying for a formal qualification, usually for one day a week either at college or a training centre.
