The King’s School have achieved a double victory in rugby this season, with Year 7 winning the Yorkshire Cup and Year 9 winning the Yorkshire Plate.

Year 7 won the Yorkshire Cup on their first attempt, beating fierce competition from Wolfreton, Hayfield and Prince Henry Grammar in the early stages of the competition. The final was played against Ermysteds Grammar, another highly competitive rugby school. The final score was 40-10, with outstanding performances from Oliver (Captain) and Daniel.

Year 9 won the Yorkshire Plate on Saturday 1st February. The team beat the following schools to get to the plate final: Ashville, Ermysteds, Hayfield and Wickersley. The final was against Ilkley Grammar, traditionally an influential rugby school. Despite being down 7-0 in the first minute, the King’s came out 55-10 with outstanding performances from Jacob (Captain) and Tom.

It has been twenty years since King’s has had a team in the final of the Yorkshire Cup. This outstanding achievement is a celebration of the determination and hard work of our players, coaches and supporters – a true community effort. To have two teams in the finals reintroduces The King’s School to the upper tiers of the Yorkshire school’s competition for years to come.
