Students from Pontefract Academies Trust secondary schools, The King’s School, and Carleton High School competed in The Prince of Wales Hospice ‘Dragon’s Den meets The Apprentice’ challenge. Taking inspiration from the BBC’s popular TV shows, The Prince of Wales Hospice created their own exciting challenge for local schools to showcase the next generation of billionaires in the making. Three pupils from across Yorkshire have been named as winners of Carnegie School of Education’s art competition to create a design on the theme of hope in partnership with Leeds Beckett University. Pontefract Students Put On A Show-Stopping Performance

Students from The King’s School, part of Pontefract Academies Trust, put on a sell-out performance of the Little Shop of Horrors last week for the local community, parents, carers, and other students to enjoy. Local Children Involved In Remembrance Day In Pontefract

Both of our secondary schools were delighted to welcome Mr Brian Berry MA from the Ackworth and Pontefract branch of The Royal British Legion along with other ex-veterans. They gave an inspirational presentation about their stories of serving in the war. They also spoke about the significance of the poppy. Every year, all eight of our schools find fun ways to raise money for Children in Need. Whether it’s baking, running races, raffles and much more. The Rookeries Junior, Infant & Nursery School featured on Look North and the Children In Need programme as they attempted to break the world record of how many wet sponges can you throw at someone in 30 seconds! Pontefract Academies Trust has announced that for this academic year their eight schools as well as the central office, will be fundraising for The Prince of Wales Hospice in Pontefract. All eight schools who are part of Pontefract Academies Trust have received the totals that they have collectively raised for The Prince of Wales Hospice in Pontefract and Motor Neurone Disease Association during the 2020-2021 academic year. £10,252.10 had been raised for The Prince of Wales Hospice and £9,160.65 for Motor Neurone Disease.
