All eight schools who are part of Pontefract Academies Trust have had a busy few days packed full of fundraising activities to raise money for both The Prince of Wales Hospice based in Pontefract and Motor Neurone Disease (MNDA). Local 12 Year Old Selected to Represent Great Britain In Upcoming World Championships

Ryan Bradley, from Pontefract has been successfully selected to represent Great Britain along with his partnership at the Acrobatic Gymnastics World Championships in Geneva in June. The 2021 Acrobatic Gymnastic World Championships is the 27th edition of the acrobatic gymnastics competition. It was originally scheduled to take place in Geneva, Switzerland from May 29 to May 31 2020. However due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it has been postponed to this year. Pontefract Food Bank Thank Pontefract Schools for their Support

Together the 3,900 pupils and over 300 staff members of Pontefract Academies Trust collected 315kg of food which has been donated to Pontefract Food Bank. The amount collected is enough to create 21 food packages for those in need within the local community. Masked Readers celebrate World Book Day at Pontefract Academies Trust

Teachers, pupils and parents didn’t let lockdown stop them from celebrating this year’s World Book Day as they enjoyed an action packed agenda to enjoy their love of storytelling and reading. Harry Potters, Hermiones, Dennis the Menaces, Tom Gates and Fantastic Mr Foxes are just some of the characters that joined Pontefract Academies Trust online lessons to enjoy “The Masked Reader” event where staff disguised their faces and children and families had to guess who it is and what book they were reading. Pontefract Academies Trust raise £7,442 for Local Hospice

Pontefract Academies Trust has raised over £7,442 for The Prince of Wales Hospice in just four months. All eight schools have been working incredibly hard over the past four months to raise much needed funds for the hospice as they know how difficult it’s been for charities during the pandemic. Fundraising activities so far have included non-uniform days, Reindeer Runs, collecting money in the hospices star jars and much more. Pontefract Academies Trust has been embracing Children’s Mental Health Week and encouraging all their students to find activities that help them feel good about themselves whether that be art, drama, exercise or music. Pontefract Academies Trust has announced that for this academic year all of their eight schools as well as the central office, will be fundraising for Motor Neurone Disease Association (MNDA) as their national charity and The Prince of Wales Hospice in Pontefract as their local charity.
